Monumental Alebrijes Parade in CDMX
Every year in October, Mexico City is filled with magic and color with the parade of monumental alebrijes organized by the Museo de Arte Popular. This is one of the great events held by the MAP and has already become a tradition loved by all, as it celebrates the imagination and handcrafted folklore of Mexico.
During the parade, the streets of the Historic Center come alive with gigantic alebrijes figures, some up to several meters high, which parade accompanied by music, dances and celebrations. The alebrijes are made by artisans from different parts of Mexico, such as Oaxaca, Puebla, Guanajuato and Hidalgo.
In 2024, the parade is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, starting at 12:00 noon in the Zocalo, and passing through 5 de Mayo, Juarez and Paseo de la Reforma streets to end at the Angel of Independence. See you here?
In previous years, after the parade, the alebrijes remain on display on Paseo de la Reforma so that more people can admire them. We hope it will be the same again this year.
